Two and "Three Little Birds"

Here's a song that immediately puts a bounce in my step,

Happy Thursday everyone

Three Little Birds
Bob Marley

"Don't worry about a thing
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright"
Singing, "Don't worry about a thing
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!"

Rise up this morning, smiled with the rising sun
Three little birds pitch by my doorstep
Singing sweet songs of melodies pure and true
Saying, "This is my message to you-ou-ou"

Singing, "Don't worry about a thing
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright"
Singing, "Don't worry about a thing (Don't worry)
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!"

Rise up this morning, smiled with the rising sun
Three little birds pitch by my doorstep
Singing sweet songs of melodies pure and true
Saying, "This is my message to you-ou-ou"

Singing, "Don't worry about a thing (Worry about a thing, oh)
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright (Don't worry)
Singing, "Don't worry about a thing (I won't worry)
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!"
Singing, "Don't worry about a thing
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright (I won't worry)
Singing, "Don't worry about a thing
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!"
Singing, "Don't worry about a thing (Don't worry about a thing)
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright

This song is one of Bob Marley's most popular songs.
Tony Gilbert, a friend of Bob Marley, explained a possible source of inspiration for this song, saying, "Bob got inspired by a lot of things around him, he observed life. I remember the three little birds. They were pretty birds, canaries, who would come by the windowsill at Hope Road."
Marcia Griffiths from a reggae group I Threes had her own explanation of this song's source. They did shows with Marley and she recalled, "After the song was written, Bob would always refer to us as the Three Little Birds. After a show, there would be an encore, sometimes people even wanted us to go back onstage four times. Bob would still want to go back and he would say, 'What is my Three Little Birds saying?'"
Jason Mraz used to perform this song in conjunction with his song "I'm Yours" in concerts.
Ziggy Marley and Sean Paul recorded a cover of this song for the animated film "Shark Tale" (2004).
Connie Talbot made a cover of this song as her first single from the album "Over the Rainbow" (2007). She also released a music video which was filmed in Jamaica.

Where do the Children Play

Where Do the Children Play?

Well, I think it's fine, building jumbo planesOr taking a ride on a cosmic trainSwitch on summer from a slot machineYes, get what you want to if you want'Cause you can get anything
I know we've come a long wayWe're changing day to dayBut tell me, where do the children play?
Well, you roll on roads over fresh green grassFor your lorry loads pumping petrol gasAnd you make them long, and you make them toughBut they just go on and on, and it seems that you can't get off
Oh, I know we've come a long wayWe're changing day to dayBut tell me, where do the children play?
Well, you've cracked the sky, scrapers fill the airBut will you keep on building higher'Til there's no more room up thereWill you make us laugh, will you make us cry? Will you tell us when to live, will you tell us when to die?
I know we've come a long wayWe're changing day to dayBut tell me, where do the children play?

Under Pressure

 Relevant and sadly timeless

Under Pressure

Mmm num ba de
Dum bum ba be
Doo buh dum ba beh beh

Pressure: pushing down on me
Pressing down on you, no man ask for
Under pressure that burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets

Um ba ba be
Um ba ba be
De day da
Ee day da

That's OK

That's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming
"Let me out!"

Tomorrow gets me higher
Pressure on people, people on streets

Day day de mm hm
Da da da ba ba
OK

Chippin' around, kick my brains 'round the floor
These are the days: it never rains but it pours

Ee do ba be
Ee da ba ba ba
Um bo bo
Be lap

People on streets
Ee da de da de
People on streets
Ee da de da de da de da

It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming
"Let me out!"

Tomorrow gets me higher, higher, high!
Pressure on people, people on streets

Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence, but it don't work
Keep coming up with love, but it's so slashed and torn

Why, why, why!?

Love, love, love, love, love

Insanity laughs under pressure
We're breaking

Can't we give ourselves one more chance?
Why can't we give love that one more chance?
Why can't we give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love, give love?

'Cause love's such an old-fashioned word
And love dares you to care for the people on the edge of the night
And love dares you to change our way of caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves

Under pressure
Under pressure
Pressure

Hello in There

"You know that old trees just grow stronger

And old rivers grow wilder every dayOld people just grow lonesomeWaiting for someone to say"Hello in there, hello"
So if you're walkin' down the street sometimeAnd spot some hollow, ancient eyesPlease don't just pass 'em by and stareAs if you didn't careSay, "Hello in there, hello""

He Ain't Heavy

Hi everyone,
I've loved my ritual of sharing a quote each Thursday with you over the years (a couple decades for some of you).
Now old songs and lyrics are calling me, I hear them echo through the years...when will we ever learn?
So, in 2026 I will be sharing song lyrics as much as quotes.
Stay well and Try to Love One Another right now

He Ain't Heavy He's my Brother
"… The road is long

With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where, who knows where
But I'm strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

… So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We'll get there

… For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

… If I'm laden at all
I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart
Isn't filled with the gladness
Of love for one another

… It's a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we're on the way to there
Why not share?

… And the load
Doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

… He's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother"
